S-adenosylmethionine, or SAMe, is a compound that is present naturally in the body, and has a hand in many different body processes. It is important for the health of the body, including the immune system, aids the production and break down of brain chemicals, like melatonin, serotonin, and dopamine, and maintains the body’s cell membranes. It also works in conjunction with vitamin B12 or folate. If there is not enough B12 or folate in the body, then there may be a deficit of s-adenosylmethionine.

On the medical side, it has been shown through scientific studies, that s-adenosylmethionine has been shown to relive the pain of osteoarthritis, and may also relieve depression. Further health studies suggest that it may also help with fibromyalgia and diseases of the liver. The studies that were done early were given either as an IV or as injection. Now, studies are being done with the medication being taken orally.

SAMe is said to be of greater effectiveness than placebo for treating depression that is mild to moderate. It has also been shown to be as effective as medications for treating depression, and there are no side effects, like sexual dysfunction, sleeplessness, or headaches. Also, it works much quicker than antidepressants do, since they take about 6-8 weeks to begin working. SAMe begins to work much faster. Although there is no definitive answer as to why it works the way it does for depression, it is believed to raise the amount of serotonin that is found in the brain, as many antidepressants do.

However, some of the studies that have been done with s-adenosylmethionine for health reasons like depression, have used the form of the drug that is injectable, and not the type that is taken by mouth. One study said there was no benefit. Greater research will be required to determine whether or not it should be used for depression. Your doctor is the one that should advise you if talking s-adenosylmethionine is right for you, since depression is a very serious illness.

There have been several trials that show that s-adenosylmethionine might lower the amount of pain and swelling in joints, and researchers are also saying that it may help repair cartilage, even though the reasons behind it are not known. In short term studies (4-12 weeks), it was shown that supplementing with SAMe, was as effective as using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, like naproxen and ibuprofen, in adults that were suffering from osteoarthritis in the hips, knees, or spine. It worked as well as these medications to reduce swelling and pain, morning stiffness, give greater range of motion, and faster speed when walking. There was a different study done that compared SAMe with Celebrex, and discovered that when time went by, it was proved to be just as effective at pain relief.

The medical condition Fibromyalgia, has also been shown to be relived through the use of SAMe. Pain, morning stiffness, fatigue, and depressed mood were relived, even though the majority of these studies used SAMe that was injectable. Some people found relief through the oral use of this product, and others did not.

Since people that suffer from liver disease cannot synthesize SAMe properly, there are some early studies that suggest that by taking SAMe, it may heap to treat liver problems that have been caused by alcoholism or medications. A study was done that involved 123 men and women with liver cirrhosis caused by alcoholism, and it discovered that for two years on treatment with SAMe, it might improve the chance for survival, and delay the need for a transplant greater than placebo does. There have been various other medical studies that have shown it may normalize the liver enzymes for people that suffer from diseases of the liver. The studies have all been short and of a small duration, so longer tests will have to be performed before these findings can be confirmed.

You cannot find s-adenosylmethionine in food, it is only made in the body from ATP and the amino acid methionine. ATP is the chief energy source for cells all over the body.

You can get SAMe is tablet form. The best are enteric-coated tablets, which have greater stability, and can be more dependable in regards to the level of s-adenosylmethionine that is found in the pill.

R & C topical ointment is a medication that is used to treat lice infestations. This medical formula has ingredients that are known as pyrethrins which are toxic to lice that are living on a person’s body, on their pubic hairs, or upon their scalp. Lice can spread quickly from one person to another and they need to be destroyed as soon as you discover them.

The medicine known as R and C is one of a number of formulas that are designed to kill the lice on contact. Although one treatment should kill any living lice that it comes in contact with but may not kill all of the nits (lice eggs) that are present. A second application is recommended by medical professionals. It be re-applied in 7-10 days so that any newly hatched nits are also killed.

According to medical experts this drug is more correctly categorized as a pediculicide. The two active ingredients that the formula contains are Piperonyl Butoxide and pyrethrins. The addition of the Piperonyl Butoxide intensifies the actions of the pyrethrins. This makes them the pyrethrins more effective at eliminating even long standing lice infestations.

The pyrethrins that the R & C ointment contains are absorbed by the lice. The formula is able to kill them because it systematically targets their internal nervous systems. Pyrethrins can be safely used on humans without producing similar effects.

R& C topical ointment is the brand name that is generally sold in Canada. The formula is a combination of Piperonlyl Butoxide and Pyrethrins. There are many other names for this external medicine that are available in the US.

Here is a short list of some other US medical pediculocide products that work in a manner identical to R& C ointment:

Blue

Pronto Lice Killing Shampoo Kit

Licetrol

Tisit Shampoo

A-200 Shampoo Concentrate

Barc

A-200 Gel Concentrate

Triple X

Rid

Tisit

Pyrinyl

Tisit Blue

At the present time you can obtain this type of medicine without having a medical prescription. If you have any type of health issues or are using any other prescription drugs it would be a good idea for you ask your health care professional about the product before you choose to use it.

Formulas that contain both pyrethrins and piperonyl butoxide are available as shampoos, gels and topical ointments in the US. Canada only offers the formula as a solution shampoo

Allergies

If you have ever had allergies or allergic reactions to preservatives, dyes, ragweeds, chrysanthemums, kerosene, petroleum based products, piperonyl butoxide or pyrethrins you should not use this pediculocide until you discuss it with your health care professional or a nearby medical physician.

Pregnancy

Both Pyrethrins and piperonyl butoxide can be absorbed through the surface of the skin but these ingredients have not been linked to any birth defects.

Breast-feeding

It is widely believed by medical experts that women can use products containing Pyrethrins and piperonyl butoxide ingredients while they are nursing their babies. However you should still first discuss it you’re your doctor before you use this product if you are a mother who is breast feeding an infant.

Children

There have been no problems noted when using pyrethrins and piperonyl butoxide on the skin or scalp of children. However many parents still feel uneasy and may choose to treat lice infestations with some other type of medical or herbal product.

Miscellaneous

If someone has skin inflammations that are moderate to severe using a solution that contains pyrethrins or piperonyl butoxide could temporarily worsen their skin condition. Always get a medical professional’s opinion about whether or not to use this product if you suffer from a skin rash, eczema or psoriasis.

Warnings

Medication that contains pyrethrins and/or piperonyl butoxide are extremely dangerous if they are inhaled or ingested

Never let this medicine come close to any oral contact, and always keep it away from your mouth or lips.

Never inhale the vapors from this medicine. Apply the shampoo or topical ointment in a room with adequate ventilation and good air circulation.

Always make sure that any medicine containing the ingredients pyrethrins and piperonyl butoxide does not come in contact with your eyes or other mucous membranes.

Do not try to use this type of medication on your eyebrows or eyelashes. If lice are a problem in this area they can be removed by hand.

Directions for Use

The medicine should be applied to wet hair or skin, as appropriate.

Then wash your hands to clear away any residue.

The pediculocide should only remain on the skin or scalp for 10 minutes and then you must wash and rinse your hair or skin thoroughly to remove all traces of the medication.

If you are using the shampoo on your scalp you will need to comb your hair with a specialized, fine tooth comb designed to remove dead lice and their sticky nits(eggs) from your scalp and hair.

Repeat these steps once again within 7-10 days to make sure that you have killed all of the lice and nits.

If you are using the medicine to treat “crabs”,or pubic lice, you should also make sure that any sexual partners are also treated. Lice are spread through close, personal contact and you need to let others know that they may be at risk for an outbreak of lice.

Should you have any questions about dosage or directions you should seek the advice of a medical professional.

Q Flex is a medical drug made up of acetaminophen and phenyltoloxamine. Both drugs are widely used around the world for various health purposes. Acetaminophen is a very popular drug sold under the brand name Tylenol and used to relive mild to moderate pain and reduce fevers. It is also marketed to treat headaches. Phenyltoloxamine is an antihistamine, it works to reduce histamine production in the body, helping to treat itching, runny noses, sneezing and water eyes.

Uses and Brand Name

Together these medications are sold to treat seasonal allergies and combat the effects of the common cold and the flu, doctors may also prescribe the medication for other health reasons. The combination of acetaminophen and phenyltoloxamine is sold under a variety of brand names including Q Flex. Other brand names of this medical drug include: Acuflex, Alpain, Lagesic, Phenagesic and Vistra. They are sold over the counter and by prescription only. A dose of Q Flex should not exceed 2 grams (equal to 2000 milligrams) at a time and 4 grams (equal to 4000 milligrams) is the maximum amount that can be taken in one 24 hour period. Remember to store Q Flex in a cool dry place at room temperature so the drug does not lose effectiveness.

Very Important Health Information

Those currently taking Monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors should never take Q Flex. MAO inhibiters refer to a class of medical drugs designed to treat depression and Parkinson’s disease. Popular brand names include phenelzine (Nardil) and tranylcypromine (Parnate). Q Flex should also not be taken if you have taken an MAO inhibitor within the last 14 days. If the drug is still in the system when taking Q Flex, life-threatening side effects, including death could occur, especially in young children.

For alcoholics, those who take 3 or more alcoholic beverages a day or those suffering from alcoholic liver disease, Q Flex may not be suitable for your health. Make sure to share such medical information with your physician and stop drinking alcoholic beverages while on this medication. Because Q Flex causes drowsiness or dizziness, serious side effects can occur if taking other medications at the same time which produce similar side effect such as muscle relaxers, sleeping pills and allergy medications. Give your doctor a full update of all other medications being taken including prescription, over the counter and herbal.

Others Who Can’t Take Q Flex

For health purposes, some individuals cannot take Q Flex, especially those who are allergic to either acetaminophen or phenyltoloxamine. Individuals should also share with their doctors if they are allergic to any medications to be sure adverse effects won’t occur. Those with certain preexisting conditions may be unable to take Q Flex or may require dosage adjustments or require medical tests beforehand to determine if the drug is appropriate. These health conditions include diabetes, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, liver disease, glaucoma, heart disease and an enlarged prostate among others.

Medical Warnings for Those Pregnant or Nursing

For pregnant and nursing women, Q Flex can be a problem. Since the drug can be harmful for an unborn fetus or a nursing baby who ingests the drug through their mother’s milk it is important to speak to your doctor before taking. That way it can be determined if Q Flex should be taken or if another medication may be more appropriate. If taken, the drug should only be used for short-term use, overdosing could lead to birth defects in children and could contribute to liver failure. Because both medications are also available in other over the counter medications, it is important to check labels of over-the-counter medicines to ensure your health and prevent overdoses.

Other Medical Warnings and Side Effects

Just like any other medication, overdose of Q Flex could lead to life threatening health problems. Convulsions, fast pounding or uneven heartbeat, unexplainable weakness, nausea, vomiting, easy loss of appetite, stomach pain and coma could occur. If these serious side effects occur, it is important that you seek medical attention immediately. Less serious side effects such as dry mouth, feeling overexcited and blurred vision may also occur. You should talk to your doctor if you experience any other serious or worrying side effects not listed here.

Q Flex has been known to impair thinking and reasoning skills, while reducing reaction time and alertness. Drowsiness and dizziness might also occur. For those in certain professions where remaining alert and aware is vital it can be dangerous to take this medication. For example, those operating heavy machinery should be sure to use caution when taking Q Flex. Since Q Flex can also impair driving, it should also not be taken when operating a vehicle, if not fully alert. As always, your doctor is the best source to understand what medical and health conditions can occur from Q Flex or any other medication.
The medicine known as P Chlor DM is more commonly marketed under the names Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold and Cough, Poly- Tussin DM or Tussplex DM. There are also many other brand names that include Cardec DM, De-Chlor DR and Maxiphen ADT. The generic ingredients included in the formulation for P Chlor DM are chlorpheniramine, phenylephrine and dextromethorphan.

Chlorpheniramine is a well known antihistamine which decreases the levels of natural chemical histamines in the body. Medical professionals know that histamines that are responsible for cough and allergy symptoms such as sneezing, teary eyes, itching and nasal drainage.

Phenylephrine is another compound that works as a decongestant. A stuffy, congested nose is the result of blood vessels that have become dilated. This ingredient is able to constrict the superficial blood vessels that are found in the nasal passages and thus relieves nasal congestion

Dextromethorphan is an ingredient that is favored as a cough suppressor. This medical compound directly affects the cough reflex by limiting the strength and frequency of the coughing responses.

.

By combining the dextromethorphan, chlorpheniramine and phenylephrine in one health formula it produces a medical product that can be successfully used to treat many signs and symptoms of colds and allergies. These 3 ingredients work very well to control sneezing, coughing, sinus drainage or congestion, stuffy noses, eyes that itch or water, hives, skin rashes and generalized urticaria,

Although Dextromethorphan is a good cough suppressant it can not be used for treating coughing spasms that are the result of asthma, emphysema or tobacco use.

Important Information about P Chlor DM Ingredients

Dextromethorphan, phenylephrine and chlorpheniramine are all capable of creating side effects that can limit or hamper your reactions and responses. You should avoid driving, detailed work assignments and operating any heavy equipment while you are taking any medication that contains one, or all, of these ingredients

Never give any cough or cold medications to any young child unless directed to do so by a medical doctor. Seizures, respiratory problems, brain damage and death are all possible results if these types of medicines are being used arbitrarily to treat young children.

People should not use any cough or cold medicine with these ingredients if they currently take an MAO inhibitor such as Marplan, Nardil, Azilect, Parnate or Eldepryl. Even if you have only used one of these MAO inhibitors once within the past 2 weeks you should not use P Chlor DM, or similar medical products without discussing it with your family physician. The use of some cough meds while MAO inhibitors are still present in your system can create side effects which are extremely serious.

P Chlor DM should not be combined with other cough medications or sleeping medications. This can lead to an overdose of one or more of the ingredients. You always need to read the labels of any medication carefully first to see if it contains antihistamines, decongestants or cough suppressants.

Before you begin using PChlor DM or a similar medical formula, you need to tell your doctor if you have any allergies to dextromethorphan, chlorpheniramine or phenylephrine. It is also important that you alert your doctor if you have any of the following health conditions:

Renal disease

Hepatic disease

glaucoma

high blood pressure

diabetes

heart disease

stomach ulcers or any known stomach obstruction

chronic bronchitis or emphysema

enlarged prostate

thyroid problems

Having one or more of these health ailments does not mean that you can not take P Chlor DM, but it does mean that your doctor will have to determine whether or not you can use it. A physician may need to do certain tests to conclusively determine if your body can handle the ingredients used in this type of medication and the exact dose to prescribe.

You must tell your physician if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant, or plan to become pregnant while using this medical product for the treatment of coughs, colds or allergies. Dextromethorphan, phenylephrine and chlorpheniramine, can be harmful to a fetus and these ingredients can be passed to a nursing baby through your breast milk. It is critically important that you talk with your doctor about whether to use this medication if you are already breast-feeding in order to protect the health of your baby.

Instructions for Using P Chlor DM

Use the medicine exactly as your doctor tells you to or according to the package instructions..

Do not take any extra doses, and never take this medical formula for a period longer than is recommended.

When you take a dose of this medicine always drink at least 8-12 ounces of water along with it.

When using the dissolving tablets you should add the medicine to 8-12 ounces of water and drink it after all of the medication has completely dissolved. Stir gently before drinking, and when you empty the glass add some more water and drink that too. This will make certain that you get all of the medication that was included in the dosage amount.

Eating some food or drinking a little milk when you take this medication should help you prevent any upset stomach complaints.

If your symptoms are not better within a week you need to discuss the matter with your physician.

It works to prevent vitamin deficiencies during pregnancy. It is also an effective treatment for medical conditions related to vitamin complications that may be experienced by an expectant mother. There are many reasons why a female may experience deficiencies of this nature. Choosing to indulge in the proper diet, as well as medical conditions may deplete the body of important vitamins that are necessary for the health of the mother and the growth and development of the baby in the womb. In this guide, you will be introduced to O-Cal Prenatal.

Side Effects Associated with O-Cal Prenatal Vitamins

If you are prescribed O-Cal Prenatal vitamins to optimize your health during pregnancy, it is important to know and understand that there are many side effects that may occur. While these side effects are considered to be uncomfortable by most that experience them, they are not typically considered to be a medical emergency. In many instances, the symptoms are directly related to the gastrointestinal tract. One may become constipated, experience varying degrees of diarrhea, and the stomach may become upset. It is quite common for many pregnant women to experience an unusual taste in the mouth. Many may find that they experience a headache. These are all considered to be quite common.

Symptoms Indicating a Medical Emergency

There are many symptoms that may be experienced when taking O-Cal Prenatal vitamins that may be considered a medical emergency. Most of the symptoms that may show that the health of the pregnant woman is being impacted in a negative fashion are a result of an allergy to the medication. If you experience the onset of hives, have complications that are directly related to the respiratory system such as breathing issues, or experience swelling in the throat area or any location on the face, it is important to get medical assistance as soon as possible. If you are experiencing symptoms that have not been outlined and are curious as to whether or not you are experiencing an adverse reaction, you may contact the poison control center at: 800-222-1222.

O-Cal Prenatal Drug Interactions

It is important to understand that O-Cal Prenatal vitamins may interact in a negative way to other medications. The medications may be herbal, over-the-counter, or prescription. When prescribed the multivitamins, it is important to inform your doctor and/or pharmacist of any other medicine that you take to optimize your health, or treat pre-existing medical conditions. The following has been found to have a negative impact on the overall effectiveness of O-Cal Prenatal multivitamins:

Herbal and prescription drugs that are designed for heart health or heart conditions such as high blood pressure may interact to these prenatal supplements.

If you are taking diuretics for swelling and water retention, you should alert your doctor when you are prescribed this medication.

Certain types of medications that are identified as “NSAID” or “Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs” such as Aleve, Lodine, and Ibuprofen may have a negative impact on the overall effectiveness of O-Cal Prenatal.

Precautions Associated with O-Cal Prenatal

There are many special precautions associated with O-Cal Prenatal. It is important that your doctor be familiar with your medical history. While these vitamins are intended to optimize the health during pregnancy, many have experienced medical complications due to allergies, drug interactions, and taking too many prenatal vitamins at once. If you experience the medical complications associated with gastrointestinal health, or with the liver, it is advised that you avoid taking this prescription medication. Additionally, if you are allergic to certain medication ingredients or have issues with your B12 level, O-Cal Prenatal vitamins may not be appropriate for you.

Conclusion

O-Cal Prenatal vitamins are a type of multivitamin used by pregnant women in order to optimize their health and the health of their growing child. If you are prescribed this medication, it is important to understand that you may experience mild side effects such as gastrointestinal distress. However, if you experience symptoms such as a rash, hives, and breathing difficulties, you may be experiencing an adverse reaction. It is important that your doctor knows of all herbal, over-the-counter, and prescriptions that you are taking. Adverse reactions with different drugs may be experienced. When you receive your prescription to optimize your health, take it as directed in order to avoid any medical complications.
Each lozenge contains 5 mg menthol that acts as a cough suppressant and oral anesthetic. They are a health conscious choice for diabetics because of being sugar free and a recommended medical product, by reviewers and public speakers, for minor sore throat pain and coughs caused by throat and bronchial irritation.

Besides being a fast acting cough suppressant, N Ice with Vitamin C offers an added health benefit, ascorbic acid. Each lozenge contains 60 mg of ascorbic acid, or commonly known as vitamin C, which is 100% of the U.S. recommended daily value of vitamin C. Everyone knows that vitamin C should be used during cold and flu season but very few know exactly why.

During the winter season, it is not as easy to find fresh fruit in abundance as in the other seasons. Because our bodies count on a variety of fresh foods to keep in balance, the lack of vitamin C during the winter months affects our health by being sometimes entirely void from our diets. High concentrations of vitamin C can be found in oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruits as well as tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage and green peppers. Ascorbic acid alone has been tested and proven as a great health benefit in preventing and shortening the duration of the common cold.

In 1795, medical physicians discovered that lemons had something to do with the prevention of scurvy but it was not until the 20th century that the chemical elements were discovered. Vitamin C was synthesized in 1933 by British chemists Sir Walter Norman Haworth and Sir Edmund Hirst, which provided artificial production of the medical needed vitamin. People were not so lucky in earlier days to be without any form of fresh produce. There was no form of transportation to deliver fresh fruit to their areas and vitamin C was not available in health stores.

The most common medical complication that arises from lack of vitamin C is scurvy. Written journals by captains of sailing vessels in the 18th century showed a concern of crew members getting sick and dying. It was later realized that members would travel for months without any fresh fruit and their illnesses was in fact, scurvy. Many teenagers today have been diagnosed with scurvy because of bad eating habits. Characterized by swollen and bleeding gums, soreness in the joints, slow wound healing, anemia and bleeding under the skin, immediate medical help is needed. It only takes 10 mg of vitamin C a day to prevent this disease that should be totally erased from our society today.

Vitamin C is one of the most studied vitamins in the history of science for health benefits that keep appearing. Ascorbic acid is required in the body to produce protein collagen that provides the strength in our tissues. We need to manufacture new collagen on a daily basis in order to repair and maintain our tissues. Scientists have further found that almost all animals, excluding the guinea pig, produce their own vitamin C and are not required to keep the same diet as humans.

To compensate for a lack of strong tissues, it is now known that the body forms a type of plaster in the arteries, causing clogging of the arteries and the chance of stroke or heart attack. 85,000 nurses of Harvard took part in a 15-year study of a daily intake of 360 mg of vitamin C. The results were that heart disease was reduced by 30%. It has also been long known that smokers with poor diets in vitamin C are at a much higher risk of contracting lung-borne diseases as opposed to those who regularly get adequate doses of vitamin C.

There are some medical conditions that cannot tolerate ascorbic acid or it may have a reaction to certain types of medicines that have been prescribed. Signs that you could be having an allergic reaction to vitamin C are: blood in the urine, severe pain in the lower back or side, lightheadedness, heartburn or stomach cramps, nausea and flushing. It is always best to check with your medical physician before beginning any treatment with vitamins or herbs.

Protecting your body is a health conscious decision that we should all take very seriously. Get ready for the winter season and take precautions against germs and bacteria that are always trapped in indoor crowded areas. A word from the medical community is to wash your hands often, carry hand sanitizer, and stay home from work or school if you are feverish. And an added note from those who have tried N Ice with vitamin C, keep a pack on hand.

MS Contin is an analgesic or pain reliever that also happens to be a powerful narcotic. It is used to treat severe chronic pain that is often a result of cancer or traumatic injury. MS Contin was specifically designed to offer round the clock pain relief. That is why it is only available in controlled or time-release form that can be taken once every twelve hours. Its technical name is morphine sulfate.

What you need to know about MS Contin

It can only be prescribed by a medical doctor. If you are taking other pain medications, it is unlikely that your doctor will prescribe this medication. Since the body can become tolerant to pain medications, especially when they are narcotics, over-medicating patients may not only be harmful to their health, but it may also cause them to become addicted to these substances.

In fact, MS Contin and its cousin OxyContin are extremely popular with recreational drug users and are the motivation behind hundreds pharmacy robberies each year in the United States. These drugs, especially MS Contin, are considered extremely dangerous to drug addicts, who are often unaware the time-release mechanism in the drug is actually wax inside of the pill. So, when a drug addict who uses needles heats the drug, the wax inside of the pill expands, and once it is injected it can be harmful to their health.

The drug is so sought after by recreational drug users that it is actually a DEA Schedule II substance in the US.

But you don’t need to be a drug addict to fall under the spell of powerful analgesic narcotics. These drugs are habit-forming, which is why medical doctors are extremely careful about who they prescribe them to. If your doctor does go ahead and prescribe the drug, he will undoubtedly attempt to impress upon you the many dangers of the drug.

For starters, you should never give the drug to another person, especially if they have a problem with addiction, any kind of addiction. It is also important that you not leave the drug out in the open. MS Contini is not like the allergy medication you leave out on your bureau, it is a powerful drug, and although its cousin OxyContin is probably more popular, most teenagers are well aware of the fact that it is a narcotic. So, simply leaving it out on your dresser is probably not a good idea, especially if you have children in the house.

Taking MS Contin

You should not imbibe any alcohol when you are using this drug. We know that many medications have alcohol warnings on their labels and many people simply ignore them and have a glass of wine, or two. But in this case, drinking any alcohol could be hazardous to your health. Again, your medical doctor will inform you of the dangerous side effects of drinking alcohol while using MS Contin, which include coma and death.

Another simple but extremely important piece of advice is that you should never, ever take more than the prescribed dosage of MS Contin. This will not only have an effect on your health, but it may also lead to addiction.

You also need to let your medical doctor know if the drug stops working on your pain. This means that your body has become tolerant and your medical doctor will need to prescribe a new different medication.

But do not stop taking MS Contin without consulting your doctor first as you may experience serious withdrawal symptoms. Your medical doctor will explain how to avoid the worst of these symptoms.

Before using

If you have ever had an allergic reaction to any narcotic medication, such as codeine, Vicodin or Percocet, you should not use MS Contin.

In fact, before your medical doctor prescribes MS Contin, you need to let him know if you are allergic to any drugs.

It is also a good idea to tell him if you have any of the following disorders:

*Asthma or sleep apnea;

*underactive thyroid;

*liver or kidney disease;

*epilepsy or a history of seizures;

*low blood pressure;

*gallbladder disease;

*Addison’s disease;

*problems with urination or an enlarged prostate;

*metal illness; or

*a history of addiction.

Lastly, because MS Contin is a drug and because it is habit-forming, it should not be taken by women who are pregnant. The medication can be extremely harmful to the health of unborn babies and may result in addiction or withdrawal symptoms in a newborn. After a patient has given birth, she still cannot use MS Contin because the morphine in the pill will show up in the breast milk and affect the baby’s health and development.

L-Caine parenteral-local or L-Cain is a local anesthetic. It is considered a “parenteral local” anesthetic because it affects the area where it is injected i.e. the “local” area. The site where it is injected becomes numb and the patient experiences a loss of feeling. It is often used in different medical procedures.

When is L-Caine Parenteral-Local Used?

This type of anesthetics, the parenteral locals, are important since they can be used in patients who require procedures that necessitate numbness at the site of the procedure. L-Caine is used in medical procedures such as dental surgeries where it is administered where a tooth is to be extracted or filled, effectively numbing the nerves. This allows the dental surgeon to remove the tooth or fill the tooth without causing pain to the patient. L-Caine is also used in women who have experienced vaginal tears after a delivering a baby vaginally. The doctor will administer the anesthetic locally to the tissue before stitching the tear. The use of the medication makes the patient perceive the procedure as painless which is important for a patient’s health and recovery

What are the Advantages to Using L-Caine?

The main advantage of using L-Caine Parenteral-Local is that it can be administered locally, avoiding the use of general anesthesia. General anesthesia should be avoided as it carries a fair amount of risk to a patient’s health and requires a longer recovery period. When L-caine is used, the patient only has to wait until the medication wears off before they can return to normal activities. This is especially true in medical procedures that are non invasive such as oral surgeries.

Who Can Administer L-Caine Parenteral-Local

This medication is administered under the medical supervision of doctor or a dentist. It can also be prescribed by a specially trained health nurse. It is used in the hospital settings or in the dentist’s office.

Risks of Using L-Caine

Before the medical patient is administered any medication, the doctor or dentist will access the possibility of associated health risks. For example, a patient who has allergies to certain anesthetics or epinephrine may not be good candidate for L-Caine. Also, patients with allergies to sulfites and any other preservatives that are used in medications should also let their medical doctor or dentist know of their allergic reactions to avoid any unexpected allergic reactions.

Pregnant women who opt to use L-Caine during labor to ease their labor pain should also be made aware of the associated risks. These kinds of medications may slow down labor; lengthening the time a woman spends in active labor. However, this class of medications are not known to cause birth defects in the growing fetus and may or may not affect the health of the unborn baby.

Children and the elderly are more prone to negative health effects after being administered L-Cain.

Other risks associated with L-Caine are drug interaction related. It is important to let the presiding medical doctor, dentist or nurse about medications that are taken. This is especially true for some blood pressure medications, allergy medications, heart medications, medications for depression and any type of street drugs. The drug interactions may cause decreased or increased heart rates, altered blood pressure or may even alter the desired effect of the medication being taken or may cause L-Caine to be ineffective inadvertently endangering the patient’s health.

Some health conditions may cause the medication to be ineffective or may worse yet complicate the medical condition that the medication is being taken for. This is true in people suffering asthma, brain related ailments like tumors or infections, blood clotting disorders, diabetics, cardiovascular diseases, blood pressure issues, thyroid disorders, kidney and liver disease.

Take Proper Precautions While Using L-Caine

The medication when used properly causes numbness to the injected area. A patient experiencing numbness may injure themselves. This is especially true when L-Caine is used during a dental procedure. A patient feeling numbness in their cheek or tongue may bite their tongue or cheek. This injury will only be apparent after the medication has worn off. Patients should be warned about this self inflicted health injury and be told exercise caution until the medication wears off.

L-Caine is a commonly used medication. Its use can benefit a person’s health by avoiding the use of general anesthesia for simple medical procedures. There are few side effects associated with its use but if any are felt it is important to let the medical doctor know.

K-10 is a mineral supplement medication that is used to remedy a potassium deficiency in the blood. Most people eat enough potassium rich foods that they do not need a supplement such as k-10. Some medications and medical conditions cause some people to lose potassium in their blood faster than they can replace it with potassium rich foods. These include flu like illnesses, water pills and inadequate eating habits. A potassium deficiency can cause muscle weakness, vomiting, altered moods, and erratic heartbeat. Proper potassium levels in the blood are vital to the function of your heart, kidneys and other organs.

If you are taking a potassium supplement such as K-10 then it is important that you take me medication at the same time every day. Since this in an oral powder medication you will need to mix the medication with 4-8 ounces of water or juice. Do not premix the medication ahead of time. It is important that you take the medication immediately after it is mixed. It is easier on the stomach if you take the medication after a meal. If your medical doctor has directed you to take this medication in a different manner, then you should follow his direction. If you have any questions call your doctor or ask your pharmacist.

K-10 needs to be taken on a regular basis to produce it’s maximum benefit. You should follow your doctors recommended dosage, because too much potassium in the blood is a bad thing. It can cause a condition called hyperkalemia. Hyperkalemia can cause changes in altered heartbeats and skeletal problems.

Patients with allergies to medications should make sure that their doctor and pharmacists are well aware of what medications they are allergic too. Some medications contain food products and dyes. It is important that your doctor and pharmacist know about these allergies as well.

People who are pregnant or breastfeeding should talk to their medical doctor about the risks of taking potassium supplements. K-10 is not known to have any ill effects on the health of unborn humans. Potassium does pass through breast milk; however there have not been any reports of problems in nursing babies.

Side effects of K-10 include nausea, upset stomach, gas, and diarrhea. You can reduce the onset of stomach problems by taking the proper dose as your doctor directed and taking the medication after a meal. If the side effects worsen or do not go away you should contact your doctor immediately. Elderly people may be more susceptible to the side effects of this medication, because kidney function decreases with age. K-10 is filtered through you kidneys.

This drug is very unlikely to produce a serious allergic reaction; however the risk of allergic reaction is apparent in all medications. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: Rash, dizziness, swelling and difficulty breathing. If you think that you are allergic to K-10 you should stop using the medication and contact your doctor.

K-10 should not be used in people who have certain preexisting health conditions. You should not take this medication if you have high potassium levels in your blood or if you have chronic kidney failure. K-10 can make these conditions worse. It is important that your doctor know your full medical history so that he will be able to decide if this is the right medication for you. Make sure that you inform your doctor if you have ever had a severe kidney disease, heart problems, or high potassium levels in your blood.

You should also inform your health care professional if you are taking any other medications. It is especially important that your doctor know if you are taking any form of water pills. Your doctor will know which medications react poorly with K-10; therefore you should not stop taking any other medications without first consulting your doctor.

The medication J-Cof DHC is actually a combination of three types of drugs, brompheniramine, dihydrocodeine, and pseudoephedrine, each serving a different purpose. This drug is taken orally and is primarily used for treating a variety of symptoms that are typically caused by common medical conditions such as the flu, allergies and hay fever, or head and chest colds.

Brompheniramine provides the antihistamine properties needed to control symptoms like itchy, watery eyes, a runny nose, and sneezing while the dihydrocodeine, which can be habit forming, is a narcotic similar to the more familiar codeine and acts as a cough suppressant. And the pseudoephedrine in J-Cof DHC acts as a decongestant to help reduce congestion by shrinking the blood vessels located within the nasal passage.

What to Know Before Taking J-Cof DHC

There are some health conditions that will dictate the need for a special dose than what is normally prescribed to patients, or perhaps additional medical tests may be in order before J-Cof DHC can be safely taken.

Your doctor should be informed of any allergies you may have or of any previously diagnosed medical conditions including respiratory ailments like asthma, sleep apnea or COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), or epilepsy, gallbladder problems, disorders of the adrenal glands, mental illness, or a history of alcohol or drug addiction before taking J-Cof DHC.

Although an overdose of cold medicine is somewhat rare, it is still quite possible and taking too much dihydrocodeine can actually be fatal. It is imperative to seek medical attention if you think you have taken too much J-Cof DHC and are having symptoms such as confusion, extreme drowsiness, skin that’s cold and clammy to the touch, nausea, vomiting, fainting, shallow breathing, decreased heart rate, or seizures or convulsions.

Children who are under the age of six should not take brompheniramine, dihydrocodeine, and pseudoephedrine unless instructed to do so by their own medical doctor.

How to Take J-Cof DHC

Unless directed otherwise, J-Cof DHC should be taken with a full eight ounce glass of water, either with or without food. As with any drug given by a medical professional, J-Cof DHC must be taken exactly as prescribed. Do not take brompheniramine, dihydrocodeine, and pseudoephedrine for longer than your doctor recommends or in differing amounts than prescribed.

Because this medication is mainly used for treating cold symptoms that may worsen or subside throughout the course of the illness it is usually taken on an as needed basis. Therefore, a strict dosing schedule may not be necessary so don’t worry if you miss a dose and definitely do not take an extra one to make up for the one you missed.

If your symptoms persist or your health does not improve after taking the medication for seven days or if you develop a rash or fever, contact your doctor as soon as possible.

What to Avoid While Taking J-Cof DHC

Alcohol should be strictly avoided when taking brompheniramine, dihydrocodeine, and pseudoephedrine as it has the potential to dangerously increase some of the drugs’ side effects. And other drugs that cause drowsiness such as those used for pain relief or for treating medical conditions like depression or anxiety will also intensify the effects of J-Cof DHC.

You should also never take any type of cough or cold medicine if you’ve taken an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid or phenelzine, among others, within the past two weeks as serious, potentially life-threatening health effects may occur.

You will also want to avoid taking any kind of diet pills or other types of stimulants when taking J-Cof DHC unless your medical doctor has given their approval as using stimulants along with decongestants can markedly increase the drug’s adverse side effects.

Before taking brompheniramine, dihydrocodeine, and pseudoephedrine together, do tell your health care provider if you are also taking antidepressants or beta-blockers to avoid any drug interactions. Also be sure to disclose everything you take for your health including vitamins, minerals, herbal treatments, over-the-counter medicines, and never start taking a new type of drug or medical treatment without informing your doctor first.

Because two of the components of J-Cof DHC, brompheniramine and pseudoephedrine, are also present in a wide variety of commonly used over-the-counter products, be sure to seek medical advice before taking other cold medicines along with this particular drug to avoid an accidental overdose. Making a habit of carefully reading all labels of the non-prescription medication you take can greatly help you to safeguard your precious health.
